Few posters from wartime Austria tie the home front and the wounded soldier together as directly as this 1917 lithograph, which advertised a state exhibition on war welfare. The catalog record lists disabled veterans and harvest work among its subjects, pointing to an effort to show injured men returning to useful labor on the land. The Landes-Kriegsfürsorge-Ausstellung was one of many wartime campaigns asking the public to see veterans as workers and to support their reintegration into civilian life. The artist is credited as Sujan, and the piece is held by the Library of Congress as part of the Rehse collection on contemporary history.
