Camp Curry, a tent camp in Yosemite Valley run by David and Jennie Curry from 1899, is the subject of this stereograph, which focuses on the social life of women at the camp in the early 1900s. Stereo-Travel Co., based in Corona, New York City, produced cards like this for viewing through a stereoscope at home, so armchair visitors could feel they were standing in the valley. Stereographs of the period often emphasized leisure as much as scenery, making this card a useful record of how visitors spent their days. Look closely at the clothing and gatherings for clues to the dress and manners of the era.
