The title page of *Wonderland 1903* is a piece of railway promotion, not a view of the park itself. Northern Pacific Railway issued the *Wonderland* booklets to draw travelers to Yellowstone, the national park established in 1872, and the railroad's Livingston, Montana, line was a main route to its northern entrance. The illustrated covers and title pages of these publications were meant to make the park feel like a destination worth a long rail trip. Their scenes of geysers, canyons, and wildlife helped shape how the American public pictured Yellowstone at the turn of the twentieth century.
