The Cathedral of Saint Paul crowns a hill above Summit Avenue, and its great dome has been a landmark for the city since the building was completed in 1915. Designed by Emmanuel Masqueray and modeled in part on St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, the church reflects the grand Beaux-Arts ambitions of its era. The caption dates this view to around March 17, 1958, though that date is unverified, so it is best read as a late-1950s glimpse of the cathedral.
