Dated 1925 and signed with a monogram on the plate, this etching shows the mansion George Washington made his home on the Potomac in Virginia, where he lived and farmed for most of his adult life. A second monogram, in pencil below the plate, marks it as a signed impression. The Mount Vernon Ladies' Association bought and preserved the estate in 1858, and by the 1920s it had become a place of pilgrimage that drew artists and visitors. The plate is listed as number 247 in Clayton's catalog.
