Music education in Cincinnati, Ohio, is the focus of this 1937 poster, which was sponsored by the Federal Music Project, part of the Works Progress Administration. The project was created to put unemployed musicians back to work during the Depression, and it paid them to teach lessons and lead community groups, often at little or no cost to students. The sheet was printed in silkscreen, a method the WPA poster division used widely because it allowed bold, flat colors at low cost. A date stamp of November 7, 1938 on the back records when the print was processed.
