Titled *On O'Neiles Point*, this view looks across the Grand Canyon in Arizona from a overlook the record spells in its original form. The Detroit Publishing Company, which sold large numbers of scenic photographs of the American West, made the picture around 1902, when rail service was bringing growing numbers of tourists to the canyon. Views like this one gave people far from Arizona a way to see landscapes they might never visit. The date and place name come from an old caption card and have not been independently verified.
