The Fine Arts Building at the Trans-Mississippi and International Exposition, Omaha, Nebraska, shows the pale, classical style that gave the 1898 fair its civic look. The exposition was meant to highlight the resources and growth of the country west of the Mississippi River, and it drew attention to a city that had expanded quickly in just a few decades. The photograph was made by Omaha photographer F.A. Rinehart, whose copyright line and catalog number appear on the caption card. The card's other notes mention boats and exhibitions, though those details are unverified.
