The name Marjorie Glen comes from the National Photo Company's own notes on the negative or its sleeve, and it has not been independently verified, so the sitter's identity should be treated as provisional. The glass plate is dated to about 1920, when the company, based in Washington, D.C., was producing large numbers of negatives in the 4-by-5-inch and smaller glass formats used at the time. Viewers may notice streaks and small blemishes, which come from the natural deterioration of the original coatings rather than from the scene itself.
