A sleeping woman rests as dusk settles, and the title "At dusk" presents the scene as a quiet moment rather than a story. The print is a platinum print, a process prized in the 1890s for its soft tones and fine detail. Farnsworth's copyright deposit, made in 1894, is why the Library of Congress holds this impression, and photographers of the period often submitted images like this to secure their rights. The mount is dark gray board, and the Library owns three impressions of the picture, one of them signed by the photographer.
