The name on this glass negative, Dr. L.B. Rogers, comes from notes the National Photo Company wrote on the negative or its sleeve, and the Library of Congress lists it as unverified. The company was a Washington, D.C., studio that operated from about 1906 into the 1930s and made large numbers of portraits and views of people and events in the city. Glass plates captured fine detail but deteriorated easily, which explains the streaks and blemishes in the coating noted in the record. The date of about 1922 is inferred from negatives in the same range.
