Hap Myers was a pitcher for the Boston Braves of the National League, and this glass negative from the Bain News Service shows him in his baseball uniform as a member of the team in 1913. Bain's studio sent photographs like this to newspapers across the country, which made player portraits a staple of early sports pages. The Braves were then a club on the rise, and Boston fans were just beginning to follow them closely. The negative's title and date come from later research by the Society for American Baseball Research, so the year is a considered attribution rather than a fact written on the glass.
