Dated 1915, this color lithograph borrows its title from the Entente Cordiale, the 1904 agreement that drew Britain and France into closer diplomatic partnership. By the time the poster appeared, that understanding had hardened into a wartime alliance. The poster's pairing of spiders with an eagle, the subjects catalogued with it, suggests an allegory meant to make a political point about the treaty. Its maker is not identified, so its exact intent is best read from the imagery itself.
