Printed for the Paris Day of 14 July 1915, this two-color lithograph by G. Picard promoted fundraising for the war charities of the Hôtel de Ville, Paris's city hall, with the proceeds meant for soldiers. Bastille Day was France's national holiday, and in wartime Paris it became an occasion for public appeals. The poster's subjects, soldiers and mothers with children, reflect the two groups the effort served: the men at the front and the families they left behind. W.R. Castle Jr. donated this copy to the Library of Congress.
