Al Schacht and Nick Altrock, the comedic coaches known as the "Clown Princes of Baseball," are the pair named in this record. Both had been major league pitchers before turning to comedy, and in the 1920s they entertained crowds with pregame routines that mocked the game while the players warmed up. The date on the negative, October 4, 1924, matches the opening game of that year's World Series, which Washington hosted at Griffith Stadium. Faint streaks and blemishes on the glass are typical of aging emulsion coatings.
