Four women are named on this glass negative: Beatrice Henderson, Madam Calderara, Miss Yousry and the Countess De La Borta, all recorded under a date of September 24, 1924. The National Photo Company, a Washington, D.C. studio that operated from about 1906 to 1932, made large numbers of portraits and event views, and its negatives later passed to the Library of Congress. The record says the titles come from data written on the negative or its sleeve and have not been verified, so the identities should be read as provisional. The streaks and blemishes visible on the glass result from natural deterioration of the original coatings, a common condition in plates of this age.
