Glen Echo Park, on the Potomac River just outside Washington, D.C., is the subject of this 1925 glass negative from the National Photo Company. The park began in 1891 as a Chautauqua assembly ground for lectures and summer education, then grew into a trolley-served amusement park with rides and dance halls. The company photographed the Washington region through the 1910s and 1920s, recording towns, landmarks, and everyday public life. Streaks and small blemishes on the glass come from natural deterioration of the original coating, not from the scene itself.
