Glen Echo Park, on the Potomac River in Montgomery County, Maryland, was a popular amusement park by the 1920s, drawing city residents by streetcar for rides, dancing and summer outings. It grew out of an earlier Chautauqua assembly site, and its trolley connection to Washington made it an easy day trip. The National Photo Company made thousands of views of the Washington area in this period, and this glass negative documents the park during its heyday. Faint streaks and blemishes in the emulsion, the result of age, are visible in the original plate.
