Flag Day gives this glass negative of the City Post Office its particular occasion, with the building shown decorated for the June observance of the national flag. The National Photo Company, a commercial studio that documented Washington, D.C., made the image sometime between 1910 and 1935, and the title comes from the studio's own unverified notes. Herbert A. French gave the negative to the Library of Congress in 1947. Viewers should note the streaks and blemishes on the glass, which result from natural deterioration of the original coating.
