A color lithographic poster for *Engelhorns allgemeine Romanbibliothek*, or Engelhorn's general novel library, advertises a German series of inexpensive fiction. The design is credited to Karl Klimsch, a German painter and illustrator, and the record dates the piece to 1899. The Stuttgart publisher Engelhorn issued affordable novel series that brought popular fiction to a broad middle-class readership in the late nineteenth century.
