This photograph shows a snow-covered view across the front steps of the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., with the portico of the Supreme Court in the background, according to its caption card. The image dates to 1966 and was reproduced in that year's Library of Congress Annual Report. The Jefferson Building, where the view was taken, opened in 1897 as the Library's main building and is known for its Beaux-Arts design. Because the caption data is unverified, the placement of the Supreme Court portico is best read as the original cataloguer's description.
