Four evenings of chamber music, with Ludwig van Beethoven as the central figure, are advertised on this 1936 silkscreen announcement for concerts in New York City. The Federal Music Project, part of the Works Progress Administration, put unemployed musicians back to work during the Depression and brought live performances to neighborhoods that seldom heard them. Posters like this one were produced by the Federal Art Project's silkscreen workshops, which gave the series its bold flat color and hand-cut look.
