Billed as "Our own sporty golf course," this photograph shows the links at Breezy Point Lodge near Brainerd, Minnesota, a resort town in the state's lake country. Its copyright credit to the L.L. Cook Co. of Milwaukee points to a commercial view, the kind of image a publisher produced to promote a lodge to vacationers. Around 1954, many American resorts were adding golf to attract guests who were traveling more by automobile and had more leisure time after the war. The print documents both the course and the advertising that sold the resort experience.
