Keep it to yourself, buddy" asks viewers to guard their words about troop movements and war work. The Missouri WPA Art Project produced it as a color silkscreen, and the record credits the design to Russell Kraus of St. Louis. A January 1943 date stamp places it late in the war, when the federal government ran campaigns against careless talk, warning that a casual remark overheard by the wrong person could endanger ships, soldiers and factories. Silkscreen suited the WPA's small shops, letting artists turn out bold, flat-colored posters in quantity while the federal art projects were winding down.
