This 8 by 10 inch glass plate negative shows a science building that the catalog tentatively identifies as part of Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts, a question mark in the title signals that the attribution is not certain. The college grew out of the International YMCA Training School, founded in 1885 to prepare men for YMCA leadership, and it became known for physical education and athletics. The Detroit Publishing Company, which made this negative around 1900 to 1910, produced many views of American towns and campuses for sale to travelers and collectors.
