The Hall of Records in Springfield, Massachusetts, is the subject of this glass plate, and its title identifies the building directly. The negative dates from between 1900 and 1910 and was made by the Detroit Publishing Company, a firm that sent photographers across the country to record towns, streets and public buildings for sale as prints and postcards. Its numbered negatives formed a broad catalog of American places in the early twentieth century. The plate reached the Library of Congress as a 1949 gift from the State Historical Society of Colorado.
