Printed in German, this color lithograph urges readers to take part in the sixth German war loan, a bond drive that ran from May 10 to June 8, 1917. Germany issued nine such loans to help pay for the First World War, and posters like this one were pasted on street walls, station platforms and public buildings to persuade ordinary citizens that buying bonds was a patriotic duty. At roughly 126 by 95 centimeters, the sheet was built to be read from across a street. The initials "Wm" are the only clue to its designer in the record.
