Its German title, *Zeichnet 7. Kriegsanleihe*, urges viewers to subscribe to the Seventh War Loan, one of the bond drives Austria-Hungary ran to help pay for its part in the First World War. The color lithograph was issued in Vienna in 1917 by J. Weiner, a firm that held the title of imperial and royal court purveyor, and the artist is credited as Th. Fasche. Posters like this one went up in streets, shops and public buildings because the government relied heavily on ordinary savers to finance the war. At about 126 by 95 centimeters, it was large enough to catch the eye of passersby from a distance.
