Printed in Vienna in 1917 by the firm of J. Weiner, a k.u.k. court lithographic house, this large color poster urges viewers to subscribe to the fourth Kriegsanleihe, or war loan. By then the Habsburg government depended heavily on bonds sold to ordinary citizens to pay for the war, and posters like this carried that appeal into streets, shops and workplaces. Its size and bold lithographic color were designed to catch the eye of passersby, and it documents how the home front was mobilized for a conflict that had already lasted three years.
