A humorous drawing of balloons leaving the grounds of the Aéro-Club de France at Saint-Cloud, on the western edge of Paris, sets this scene apart from the more serious ballooning images on this board. The Aéro-Club, founded in 1898, was among the first national flying clubs, and Saint-Cloud was a common launch area for its balloons, so the setting reflects the organized sport of ballooning in France at the turn of the twentieth century. The record credits the drawing to Marcel Jeanjean, a French illustrator, but the attribution and date are tentative, so the caption card's details should be read as unverified. The comic treatment suggests the drawing was meant to amuse a general audience rather than document a specific flight.
