The title, *Monstrous craws, at a new coalition feast*, refers to the political alliance of Charles James Fox and Lord North in 1783, which George III strongly opposed and helped bring down later that year. The sheet's subject tags tie it to the king's family and to gluttony and avarice, so the feast reads as a metaphor for greed at the top of government. London publisher S. W. Fores issued it on May 29, 1787, when caricaturists often targeted royal spending and political appetite. Worth noticing is how the plate turns a dinner into a commentary on who was eating public money.
