The view looks east along Hollis Street at the church's new meeting house, a building the engraver S. Hill recorded in 1792. The print ran as an illustration in the December 1792 issue of *The Massachusetts Magazine, or, Monthly Museum of Knowledge and Rational Entertainment*, a Boston monthly published by Isaiah Thomas and Ebenezer T. Andrews. Local views like this one were among the few ways readers beyond the town could see the city's buildings, and churches, as the principal public structures of Congregational Boston, were common subjects. The etching preserves how the street and its meeting house looked just after the end of the eighteenth century's rebuilding of the city.
