Paul Revere's house on North Street, in Boston's North End, is the subject here, and this 1924 color lithograph shows the weathered wooden building as an artist saw it in the years when it drew steady interest as a historic landmark. Revere lived there around the time of his famous ride in April 1775, and the house is generally regarded as one of the oldest surviving structures in downtown Boston. Griswold Tyng's sketch was reproduced by the Seaver-Howland Press in Boston, a reminder of how the city's colonial-era buildings were being recorded and celebrated in the early twentieth century.
