Titled "Lace and diamonds," this 8 by 10 inch glass negative suggests a scene of fine dress and jewelry, though its record does not say who or what appears in it. It dates to about 1907 and was made by the Detroit Publishing Company, which Detroit photographers William A. Livingstone and Edwin H. Husher built into one of the largest commercial picture businesses in the country, documenting American cities, resorts and landscapes. The record notes the view is possibly Detroit, Michigan, and the upper left corner of the glass has cracked, a reminder of how fragile these plates were. The negative was given to the State Historical Society of Colorado in 1949.
