From Glacier Point, the camera looks down on Yosemite Valley from a granite promontory about 3,200 feet above the valley floor, with the walls and domes of the valley spread below. The print comes from the portfolio *Parmelian Prints of the High Sierras*, published in 1927, which gathered early photographs of the Sierra Nevada. Visitors reached the point by trail or by a later road, and the view from it was among the most celebrated in the park. Look for how the valley's sheer walls and the distant peaks are rendered in fine tonal detail, a hallmark of the gelatin silver process of the period.
