Yosemite Fall, listed on the card at 2,634 feet, is pictured from near Sentinel House, with a Boston excursion party posed in the scene. The view was published in 1870 by William Isaac Marshall as part of a California series on the Yosemite Valley, which Congress had granted to the state for public use in 1864. Stereo cards like this one were sold in quantity and viewed through a handheld device that gave the scene a striking sense of depth.
