Showman P.T. Barnum and his traveling party appear in this 1870 card, which pairs them with Yosemite Fall, listed in the title at 2,634 feet. The view was made near the Sentinel House, a lodging spot in the valley, and the group stands in the foreground while the falls rise behind them. Stereoviews like this were meant to be seen in pairs through a hand viewer, which gave the scene a sense of depth. Publisher William I. Marshall issued cards like this in a Yosemite series, and such cards carried the valley's scenery into parlors far from California.
