Emmet Lavery's *The First Legion* was a play about the Jesuit order, and this 1937 poster advertised its staging under the Federal theater Project, a unit of the Works Progress Administration that employed theater workers during the Depression. The record also ties the production to Connecticut and features a cross, a symbol that signals the play's religious subject at a glance.
