The record's title, "Herald, 1625 K," points to a newspaper office on K Street rather than a monument or government building. The Washington Herald was a daily paper in the capital in the early twentieth century, and a street-level view of its home shows how newspapers were part of the city's commercial life. The National Photo Company, which documented Washington streets and businesses in the 1910s and 1920s, made this glass negative around 1920 to 1921. The record notes streaks and blemishes from deterioration of the original coating, which are visible on the glass.
