The record ties this view to a storefront or office at 1827 14th Street in Washington, labeled "Herald," though that name comes from unverified data added by the photographers. The National Photo Company documented the capital's streets and buildings in the early 1920s, when 14th Street was a busy commercial corridor of shops, offices and streetcars. The image was made on an 8-by-6-inch glass negative, and the record notes streaks and blemishes from deterioration in the original coating, which can still be seen in the print.
