Wady Dabod is a temple site in Nubia, south of the First Cataract of the Nile, and this lithograph shows it as David Roberts saw it during his tour of Egypt and Nubia in 1838–1839. Roberts drew the scene on the spot, and Louis Haghe transferred the drawings to stone for the publisher F. G. Moon, whose folio series came out in parts between 1846 and 1849. The plate is one of the color views that made Roberts's Nubian work popular with Victorian readers, who had little chance to see these monuments firsthand.
