This poster was made to greet the National Education Association, whose meeting brought teachers and school officials to New York City, and it promotes the theater productions and art exhibitions that the city's federal arts projects offered visitors. It was produced under the Work Projects Administration, the New Deal agency that employed artists during the Depression. The record credits sculptor Maurice Glickman, and the silkscreen process used here let the project print bold, multicolor posters inexpensively in large runs. A date stamp on the back reads September 2, 1938.
