Trains crossing Mexico in the mid-1880s were a fresh sight, and this print by William Henry Jackson captures that moment of change. It is dated to about 1885, when railroad lines were spreading across the country under the Díaz government and linking mining and farming regions to markets in the United States. Jackson, best known for his views of the American West, traveled south to document this expansion. The date and attribution come from an older caption card and have not been independently verified, so treat them as provisional.
