A 4-by-5-inch glass negative dated March 31, 1923, is the only record of Dr. Jose T. Baron here, though the title comes from unverified data on the negative sleeve, so his identity should be confirmed before relying on it. The plate belongs to the National Photo Company Collection, a body of work from a Washington, D.C. studio known for portraits and news pictures of city figures in the early twentieth century. Its surface shows streaks and blemishes from the natural deterioration of the original emulsion coatings, a common condition in glass plates of this age. Herbert A. French gave the negative to the Library of Congress in 1947.
