Addressed directly to "Women," this lithograph by R.H. Porteus asks mothers and other women to help "America's sons win the war" by buying U.S. Government Bonds. It was printed in Chicago by Edwards and Deutsch Lithographing Company for the Second Liberty Loan of 1917, one of several bond drives the Treasury ran to finance American participation in World War I after the country entered the conflict in April 1917. The poster's emphasis on women reflects how the campaigns tried to bring women into war finance, a role that grew as men went overseas and women took on more responsibility at home.
