The text on this color lithograph carries a quotation from Woodrow Wilson, and the president's words were used to persuade Americans to lend money to their government. The poster belongs to the Second Liberty Loan campaign of 1917, when the United States, which had entered World War I that April, borrowed heavily to finance its war effort. Bonds were sold through banks, employers and volunteer drives, and posters like this one turned a financial decision into a patriotic duty. American Lithographic Co. of New York printed it, and the record marks it as No. 8.
