This color lithograph shows the entry of the toreros in procession into the bullring at Seville. The paseíllo, the ceremonial parade in which matadors and their assistants cross the arena before the first bull, has long opened a Spanish corrida, and Seville's Maestranza ring was among the most celebrated stages for it. The print is signed on the stone and marked No. 6, which suggests it belonged to a numbered series of Spanish scenes made in the 1860s, when printmakers were eager to show Andalusian customs to audiences abroad.
