Few details survive for this glass negative beyond its title, "Street scene," and its date of about 1924, so its location is unconfirmed. It belongs to the National Photo Company Collection, whose studio in Washington, D.C., produced many views of city streets and public life in the early twentieth century, often for sale as postcards and lantern slides. The negative was given to the Library of Congress by Herbert A. French in 1947. Its glass support has also developed streaks and other blemishes from the gradual breakdown of its original coating, which can soften and mottle the scene.
