The caption lists a player named Moore with the 1925 Pittsburgh Pirates, though the name comes from unverified Bain News Service data. That was the year the Pirates won the World Series over the Washington Senators, four games to three, with the deciding game played at Forbes Field. Bain's photographers supplied newspapers and agencies with action shots and portraits of players and teams, and the small glass negatives were easy to print for quick publication. Because the caption is thin, the image is best read as a document of the team and its ballpark in that championship season.
