Spanning the Harlem River between Manhattan and the Bronx, High Bridge was completed in 1848 to carry water from the Croton Aqueduct into the growing city, and its stone arches also carried a footpath across the river. It is the oldest surviving bridge in New York City. This print comes from a catalog album the Detroit Photographic Company assembled for its office, made with a color process the firm had licensed from a Swiss company around 1900.
